BOYS SWIMMING & DIVING
Showcasing more individual state qualifiers than ever before, the St. James Academy boys swim and dive team had successful outings to reach the podium in 2nd place as a team, their highest finish ever.
They started the meet with the 200 yard medley relay, led off by Senior Anderson Maginn on backstroke, then Senior Ryan Jones doing breaststroke, followed by Freshman Harry Tjaden on butterfly and finishing with Junior Nick Callahan, freestyle, who combined for a 3rd place finish.
For individual events, Callahan scored big with first place finish on the 50 yard freestyle and then 5th on the 100 yard freestyle; Maginn finished 2nd in the 100 yard backstroke, and 4th on the 200 yard individual medley; Tjaden was 4th on 500 yard freestyle and 9th on 100 yard butterfly; Jones showed the most individual improvement coming in seeded 23rd, then moving up to 14th after prelims then finishing 13th overall in the breaststroke. The Thunder divers were also an important part of the team scoring, when juniors Jack Petz and Spencer Burked medaled 3rd and 8th, respectively.
Another outstanding addition to the team score was the 200 yard freestyle relay, including Maginn, Tjaden, junior Zach Kurland, and Callahan which finished 4th.
