We are pleased to announce that Samantha Paradise O’Malley accepted the position of Head Girls Basketball Coach at St. James Academy, starting in the 2017-18 season. Coach O’Malley takes over for Coach Greg Hohensinner, who stepped down this year after leading the girl’s program since the school opened in 2005. Coach O’Malley started her high school playing career locally with Coach Rick Hetzel at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, before playing for four years at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL.

Coach O’Malley said, “I have spent the last nine years at the collegiate level. The last four years as Head Coach at Andrew’s College in Cuthbert, GA. It was the experience of a lifetime.” The O’Malley family decided to plant roots back in Kansas with the intent of being part of the basketball scene here. She continued, “I am excited to bring my passion, enthusiasm, and charisma for the game of basketball to the St. James Academy women’s program. I look forward to being a part of the St. James family and being able to positively impact the lives of many. GO THUNDER!”

Athletic Director Mark Huppe said, “Samantha brings great energy and enthusiasm to our program. Her college coaching experience along with her familiarity with the metro area basketball landscape make her a great fit for St. James Academy.”

Please join us in welcoming Coach O’Malley to our community!
